Monday Matters #29
The main trend between all of the things I have researched over the past few weeks is how somebody can make money out of something. For all the businesses, they try to create something different, that separates them from all the other competition. A business is not going to reach the top of the charts by selling something that plenty of other businesses are selling. These businesses reach the top by being different. The basketball tournament gets student athletes to come to their school by building a strong team, thus being different than other schools. A championship school is getting a huge bonus and building a legacy for their school. What I got out of this is that in order to succeed above others, you have to be different. You can not be scared to be different if you want to succeed. I was thinking of entering marketing because I like the creativeness you need to have in order to create a good ad. I feel like the creativity I have can separate me from others.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/chrissmith/2015/03/20/a-trip-to-the-ncaa-tournaments-final-four-is-worth-8-2-million/
A trip to the NCAA final 4 is much more than just a game for college basketball teams. For most teams such as Kentucky, making the final 4 can be worth over $8 million. The NCAA rewards schools with a bonus based on how well they preform over a 6 year period. Kentucky made the finals last year and topping that this year with a trip to the Final 4 and maybe even a championship could yield great profits for the school. So, when a team becomes great, they will usually stay great for awhile because they are able to draw in 5 star recruits with the money they are granted each year by the NCAA, not even to mention the money the top schools bring in with ticket sales.

There is a new invention that will change the way you wake up in the morning forever. It's called Neuro:on and it is the next big thing for anyone who hates the sound of their alarm clock in the morning. There are some flaws with the device, but it is not finished yet. It is a sleeping mask with built in lights that flash as you are about the wake up in the morning. The lights gradually get brighter and brighter as you get nearer to the time you would like to wake up. It even has a sensor that could tell you if you have a sleeping disorder. It can sync to your phone through Bluetooth to tell you all about your sleeping patterns and it'll toss the thought of using an alarm clock out of your mind forever. But the best part is, it's not that noticeable on your face!

Tia article talks about how marketing strategies have recently changed because of social media. Now, because of so many people on social media companies look to share their product through these sites such as Twitter and Facebook. People are always on their phones, usually social media, and when they see something that interests them, it is their call to go out and purchase that product. A good example of this is the new selfie stick. People see photos of their friend using the selfie stick and want it for themselves. Another good thing the selfie stick company does is that it invites users to share their photos with the company through #selfiestick. The best photos are then shared by the company. This competitiveness drives users to purchase the product and use it, unknowingly causing more and more people to buy the product.

This ad plants the idea of mcdonalds as a loving place that brings peoplease together, it was especially effective around valentine's day when it came out. This ad brings lots of interest to mcdonalds
