Monday Matters #14

http://www.teach-nology.com/tutorials/teaching/poverty/

Children's ability to learn is greatly affected by poverty. Statistics have shown throughout the years that the smarter kids are almost always the students that come from families with higher incomes. The effect of home life on children is of the utmost importance and  one of the biggest factors in determining children's intelligence. The smarter children don't have as much to worry about in the class so they do better than children who have to worry about their parents financial situation. Children from lower classes need to worry about their parents financial situation and do not do as well as smarter children.
