Children's ability to learn is greatly affected by poverty. Statistics have shown throughout the years that the smarter kids are almost always the students that come from families with higher incomes. The effect of home life on children is of the utmost importance and one of the biggest factors in determining children's intelligence. The smarter children don't have as much to worry about in the class so they do better than children who have to worry about their parents financial situation. Children from lower classes need to worry about their parents financial situation and do not do as well as smarter children.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/23/sunday-review/studying-for-the-test-by-taking-it.html?ref=education
This article is trying to get the point across that knowledge is not what many people perceive it to be. At The University of Texas, the professor threw out the final and replaced it with a series of quizzes that the students took at the beginning of every class. The students ended up doing better than past students did on the final because they studied throughout the entire year instead of trying to cram in information for the final. By cramming, a person forgets just about everything by the next week. However, people can remember everything about their favorite sports team. This is because the brain choose what it thinks is important and remembers it. The person does not control what he/she knows, the brain does it itself.

In my opinion, I believe the media tries to hide everything that reflects poorly on the U.S government and try to make it seem as if Isis is just attacking us for no reason. When it comes down to the media, you can never really believe anything unless you see it first hand and are able to make your own opinion on it. I am not saying that the United States did something to provoke Isis against us, however, I just think that the media is very one sided. My opinion on Isis is that there is not much the U.S can do about it but protect itself from them and not try to control what they are doing. If we keep trying to control them, it would never end; as soon as we think they're done and we pull the soldiers out, Isis will just start right back up again. The media is too difficult to fully comprehend and it is impossible to find a completely neutral source.

http://www.youngcons.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/isis-cancer-treatment.jpg
This political cartoon is a political cartoon basically saying that the United States should just eliminate the whole threat of Isis by blowing them up. This author believes that the United states definitely has enough power to destroy Isis completely and Obama should step up and destroy them. The author compares getting rid of Isis to a form of cancer treatment by just blowing up the whole cancer. Blowing up Isis may temporarily get rid of the problem, but I believe something will eventually come up even worse than Isis.

This artist views the Isis situation in a different way. He/she is portraying an american plane bombing Isis while dropping signs that promote peace. This is exactly how the media is portraying the United states military. We are attacking them much worse than anything they are doing to us, however, the U.S likes to portray itself as wanting peace and doing the right thing. THis author is correct, we do not know what the military is doing behind closed curtains.

This article talks about why Isis is a problem in the United states and gives a background on the Syrian terrorist group. Isis specializes in suicide bombings which is why the author of this article strongly supports Obama in his efforts to continue to attack ISIS from the air. Isis has also beheaded one american reporter and threatened to behead another if Obama did not stop with the airborne attacks on Syria. This article is most likely accurate, however, there is no way of telling because it is an american news article from New York, which could very easily be hiding the truth.

This article just gives a quick background of the statistics of how many civilians Isis has killed. Over the past 6 months, Isis has massacred civilians in Syria and the death toll has risen to over 5,500 this year. It just shows that Isis is not to be messed with from the ground, but they need to be stopped as soon as possible before more innocent people are killed over in Syria, or worse, if they start coming into the United States.

The article I have chosen talks about the war that is starting to form between the United States and The Islamic Group, ISIS. This author of this article talks about how ISIS was beheading our people and are threatening to keep doing it if we keep bombing them. However, the artcle does not say how the war started between the U.S and ISIS. The MEdia is very biased and definitely sways the way people look at things. Although I definitely do not support ISIS and am not trying to defend them, the media is most likely hiding something that our country has done to set ISIS off on us. The news channel that created this company was American, Fox News, and it would look very bad if they were talking bad about something that The United States has done, which is why the media wants to portray this situation as ISIS just attacking us for no reason.
