Monday Matters #24
With all the controversy about Chris Kyle day, it has however became a holiday in Texas. Many people believe it is wrong to worship a man who has taken the lives of over 150 people. I would have to disagree, however. Chris Kyle was a hero. He served his country and gave his life trying to help the people of the United States. As the best sniper to ever live, I believe he was an inspiration to all those in the military, and even those not in the military. Everything he did was to protect those he was partnered with, and in a bigger scene, the people of the United States. Chris Kyle deserves his own day, and he should be recognized and remembered through his holiday throughout the entire country, not just in Texas.

Monday Matters #23
I believe Chris Kyle day is a great idea. It draws attention to those soldiers who lost their lives serving for their country. Chris Kyle day is not just about Chris Kyle, it is something more than that. It would be very special for his family and friends to know that he was appreciated for what he did for the United States. The only reason people would disagree with having a Chris Kyle Day is because they do not want people supporting sending soldiers off to war. If Chris Kyle day becomes a national holiday, the attention to the war effort would be raised and people would donate more to the soldiers risking their lives over seas.

There is no opposing side to Chris Kyle day because everybody appreciates Chris Kyle and what he did for the United States of America. The petition signed in Texas for Chris Kyle Day on February 2nd is quickly becoming large enough to trigger a white house response. If the petition reaches 100,000 signatures, The White house will be obligated to make a decision whether or not Chris Kyle day will be recognized as a holiday throughout the country. The movie, American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, has gained Kyle recognition and if the law is passed, Chris Kyle will always be remembered for his sacrifice for the United States of America.

A Texas governor has recently declared February 2nd as Chris Kyle Day. After the success of the recent movie, American Sniper, it is hard not to believe something crazy like this would happen. Although Kyle was born and raised in Texas, slim to none of the people in Texas, let alone the United States would have known about the lethal sniper, Chris Kyle, if it was not for the movie. This story will not last a very long time, and will die down with the movie hype.
